The “Expanded Daily Summary” tells the office employee all he/she needs to know to “okay” the store’s daily business. If an error is detected here, steps may be taken to correct the data before it is accepted into the back office system. Our experience has shown us that one office employee can pre-check from 65-120 of these reports in a single eight hour period.
Some hot points are the average price per gallon of each grade of fuel, pump test and overrings, total charge purchases, sales tax collected, paid outs, and cash over and short.
The “Cash Test” field tells us if any cash is missing between shifts.
If the operator needs detail to back up these figures, he/she can review the detailed transactions that make up the data in the next step.
